RQAS Figurative

September 14, 2018 by Craig Amos

With Judge Lewis Miller

“Second prize goes to Craig Amos – ‘The Long Lunch’. A scene reminiscent of fin de siecle Parisian cafe/concert has been transposed onto a Queensland Bar scene starring a cocktail slurping heroine in a red dress and straw hat and a boorish drunk making his point one too many times.””

Regular exhibitor at Mackay-Harrison Galleries

July 27, 2016 by Craig Amos

Mackay-Harrison Galleries

I have been a regular exhibitor at Mackay-Harrison Galleries for a number of years now. Presently I am working toward having a couple of new pieces for David’s annual Christmas Show.

David Mackay Harrison is a ‘formidable sculptor of the human body’. His beautiful waterfront gallery in Ballina is well worth a visit should you be travelling that way.

Prize for Sculpture at the Royal Queensland Art Society 125th Annual Exhibition

July 27, 2016 by Craig Amos

In July 2015 I won a prize for Sculpture at the Royal Queensland Art Society 125th Annual Exhibition for ‘Surf Horse’. I was honoured to be recognized by the Judge – Dr. Rhyl Hinwood who commented on this work: ‘Exuberant modelling of an exaggerated form evokes a wild marine environment’. Dr. Rhyl Hinwood is recognized worldwide and her sculptures are found in State and Federal collections with works included in Parliament House, Anzac Square and over 300 pieces at Queensland University. http://www.rhylhinwood.com/
